The Department of Business Administration (DBA) of the University of Thessaly (UTH) based in Larissa was founded by Law No. 4589/2019 (Government Gazette A 13/29.01.2019, Article 22, paragraph 1d) and has been operating since September 2019. The Department of Business Administration became part of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of the UTH, which was also founded by Law 4589/2019 (Government Gazette 13 A΄/29.01.2019, Article 21, paragraph 1bb).
The aim of the Undergraduate Curriculum of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Thessaly is to provide scientific knowledge in subjects related to business administration. The revised Curriculum includes courses that follow both a qualitative and a quantitative approach, which enables graduates to analyse and understand business operations in the modern world and identify the policies and practices that optimise their effectiveness and efficiency.
The program offers students the opportunity to select a number of courses fromServices Management and Digital Management. There are also courses that help students acquire broader skills which are necessary in their professional lives.
The duration of studies in the Department is eight semesters. To be awarded the degree (from the academic year 2022-23 onwards) a successful examination in 36 compulsory courses and 12 elective courses is required. Alternatively, in the 8th semester of studies, the student can choose to write a Bachelor's Thesis instead of attending an elective course. After their graduation, students can work either as executives in businesses in public and non-profit organizations, or pursue a Master’s degree.
The Foreign Language course is offered as an optional module. Students can register for it in the fourth semester, for two teaching hours per week and the course is worth 2 ECTS. Their grade is added to the diploma supplement after the successful completion of their fourth semester and the grade is equal to the exam grade received in the fourth semester.
Certificate in Computer skills: To receive the Certificate in Computer Skills students must successfully complete four courses that focus on a relevant subject. These courses are: Informatics I, Informatics II, Management Information Systems and any course from the Digital Management group.
TheInternship is optional, and students can register for it in the 6th semester of studies. The duration of the internship is 2 months, 4-8 hours of work per day and is equivalent to 3 ECTS. The grade is added to the diploma supplement after successful completion.
