THE EVALUATION OF THE UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES PROGRAM OF THE DEPARTMENT OF B. A. OF THE (T.E.I) OF THESSALY-GREECE BY APPLYING A BENCHMARKING APPROACH. IJAEDU- International E-Journal of Advances in Education, Vol. I, Issue 3, December 2015. Page No 193 – 205

The remarkable and multilateral developmental impact and perspective of H.E.Is is widely known. Moreover, the spread of competence and technological innovation should not be a privilege for a few people who have the possibility of acquiring knowledge and skills from the International Academic Institutions. Unfortunately, raw reality remains the same and in order to be reduced, the “conventional” Academic Institutions ought to evolve constantly and develop more remarkable international collaborations in order to be able to exist, operate and contribute to the strongly competitive environment. Based on the above references, the undergraduate course of the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business and Economics, of the Technological Educational Institution (T.E.I) of Thessaly is being evaluated through the Benchmarking process as it has been defined by the Hellenic Quality Assurance & Accreditation Agency (H.Q.A), as well as with the standards of other internationally recognized and accredited institutions (e.g. European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education – E.N.Q.A, Chartered Management Institution – C.M.I etc.) in order to detect any deviations that would need specific suggestions and improvement procedures able to make this Department strongly competitive.

ABSTRACT: The purpose of the present study was to reveal, that when the employees' attribution of HR practices is well being, the employees will show higher levels of affective commitment. The study took place at the individual level. The sample of the study consisted of 439 employees from 71 units of 35 different private organizations in the Netherlands. A scale of Nishii, Lepak & Schneider (2008) was used to asses 5 general practices, in order to measure the employees' perception of why these specific practices are used by the company (Cronbachs' α= 0,778) anchored at 1=strongly disagree and 5=strongly agree. A 3-item scale was used to asses affective commitment (Cronbachs' α= 0,782). The scale was designed according to Allen and Meyer (1990) and Moideenkutty, Blau, Kumar and Nalakath, (2001). The respondents rated the answers from 1 representing strongly disagree to 7 representing strongly agree. Results indicate that employees enjoy attribution well being (M=3.33, SD= 0.68), and show employees' affective commitment (MD=4.6, SD= 1.22). Attribution well being has a positive effect on affective commitment and the coefficient of the two variables is significant (β=.330, p=.000) and remains significant after controlling for age, gender and actual commitment focused HR practices (β=.334, p=.000). Future studies can extend this study by connecting it with employees' performance and/or the employers' actual intensions and with a longitudinal approach find out if the relationship shows reversed causality.

The aim of this article is to indicate through a literature review the importance of the effect of the relationship of school culture and educational leadership on students’ achievements and the productivity of teachers. e concept ‘culture’ includes the term ‘climate’. More specifically, when we talk about school culture we refer to the external places of schools and to the relationships among those people who belong to educational environments. Different examples of empirical researches show that the key to success in a school is the relationship between school culture and educational leadership with the main scope being the improvement of student’s achievements. Last but not least, it has been argued that ‘transformational’ leadership could create a safe school culture improving quality in education.

Kyriakou D. & Belias D. (2016). Is Silver Economy a new way of tourism potential for Greece? 3rd International Conference with the theme “Tourism, Culture and Heritage in a Smart Economy”. Athens, May 19 – 21, 2016. Springer Proceedings in Business and Economics

The need to travel appears to be innate in humans. Exploring one’s surroundings is prevalent at birth. A child will wander around looking with keen interest at his/her environment. As people grow older, they feel the need to see different parts of their world. For example, many young people will embark on an overseas trip during or after completing their education. The older population has the time to travel and experience the world that may have eluded them during the years of raising a family or pursuing career commitments. Higher income enables greater exploration. The United Nations (1948, Article 24) have declared that “everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay”, with everyone assumed to have the right to leisure for developing every aspect of his/her personality and furthering social integration (European Commission, 2006). However, the recent report on Demographic Change and Tourism (DCT) by the World Tourism Organization & European Travel Commission (2010) has highlighted that the demographic changes in modern societies have created new challenges for the development of tourism due to their implications on tourism participation behaviour (see also Nickerson, 2000; Reece, 2004). Litterell, Paige, & Song (2004) described senior travelers as becoming an important travel segment because of their level of wealth, higher discretionary income, lower consumer debt, greater free time to travel, and their tendency to travel greater distances and for longer lengths of time. Huang and Tsai (2003) found that seniors will soon be one of the largest prospective market segments for the hospitality and travel industries. A marked shift in interests from beach and shopping to culture, nature and food opens additional business prospects to accommodate those who now enjoy the extension of a long-term hobby or the opportunity to try something entirely new. But what policy makers in Greece can actually do to develop and expand silver economy tourism in order to combat economic crisis as well as tackle down seasonality thus create a supplementary sustainable and viable tourism product in Greece? Human resource management, strategic leadership development and the Greek tourism sector. 3rd International Conference with the theme “Tourism, Culture and Heritage in a Smart Economy”. Athens, May 19 – 21, 2016. Springer Proceedings in Business and Economics

Human resources management and strategic leadership development are considered essential in all economic sectors, aiming at the design of recruitment, retention and professional development practices of employees and the effective implementation of the strategic planning process. During recent years, in Greece, there has been a shift within the tourism industry towards high quality services including competitive customer service with fairly high-ranking position globally. Several questions arise as regards whether or not the applied strategies - or lack of certain strategies – respond to high quality service needs of tourism organizations and to the overall development of the tourism sector in Greece. A profound understanding of the need to design high-quality human resource management practices is vital for a comprehensive tourism strategic planning. Initially, in order to answer to all issues raised, the relevant literature has been reviewed. Subsequently, the paper describes the current situation of the Greek tourism sector and elaborates on HRM and strategic management concepts. It also examines service quality as an important prerequisite for attracting customers and as an essential strategic tool boosting tourism business performance. Sdrolias L., Kakkos N., Aspridis G., Dvorakova – Liskova Z., Belias D. & Blanas N. (2016). Organizational and Functional Procedures of Innovative Product Design in the Greek Business Context. 7th International Conference on International Business. 20-22 May 2016, Thessaloniki – Greece.

The phenomenon of domination of several powerful trading countries in the international market, which import semi-finished food products from the economically and commercially weaker countries, slightly process or standardize them and channel them for their final consumption arrogating their qualitative superiority, is an undeniable fact with major negative economic and not only consequences for the origin countries. In this category of the weakest countries naturally belongs Greece. Based on these brief remarks, the purpose of this work is the search for and formulation of effective ideas, organizational processes and operational procedures in the form of a "model" for the production of innovative products, capable not only to rapidly penetrate the international market, but also to steadily control a substantial part of it. Besides, the policy of innovative production management is scientifically recognized as a modern form of "national defense" in the face of contemporary globalization and Greece should not ignore it.
