Learning Outcomes

 

The aim of the course is to introduce the student Business Information Systems, and to the concepts of digital transformation of businesses using integrated information systems. More specifically, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are the digital foundation for each enterprise. They were developed to satisfy the needs of organizations for managing efficiently human resources, financial operations, production and distribution of products, etc. as well as to integrate operations of an enterprise and to connect the organization with customers and suppliers, in real time.

Upon completion of the course the student is able to:

  • To describe the basic terminology, concepts and architecture of Business Information Systems.
  • To describe and explain the structure of a Business Information System (BIS).
  • To know the basic modules of a BIS.
  • To analyze and describe the impact of a BIS on the operation of an organization and its environment.
  • To be able to understand the technologies used to support a BIS system.
  • To be able to use a modern BIS

This course aims in addition to technical knowledge to help students develop generic competences and skills such as:

  • Ability to search, analysis and synthesis of data and information, using the necessary technologies
